FAQs

Why Should You Reduce the Number of Business Vendors?

Filling out multiple purchase orders from many business vendors is a time-consuming and stressful ordeal. Consolidating this process through the National Accounts Program frees up your time and speeds up the ordering process.

How Can You See the Return on Your Investment for a National Contract?

Once a quarter, we will sit down with your company to establish baselines for the cost associated with purchase orders and current products. We can even review growth incentives and opportunities.

Furthermore, we can present hard data to show you what’s working and where there is room for improvement.

How Can Your Organization Become Successful with the National Accounts Program?

We find that the most successful organizations in the National Accounts program have full buy-in at the corporate and local level, giving our Account Managers the resources, relationships, and information they need.

Centralized purchasing is ideal for a national agreement. This allows our National Account Manager to have a single point of contact to work through contract details, quarterly business reviews, escalation, and issues.

Additionally, we’re going to deploy a team of Account Managers and Specialists to be on the ground at each of your locations to maintain and build relationships. They are there to make sure that they know your business inside and out so that we’re delivering the value that each one of your locations requires.

How Does the Agreement Work with Decentralized Purchasing Teams?

The decentralized purchasing adds a layer of complexity to the national agreement. However, it’s not something that we shy away from.

You will still have your National Account Manager, who’s going to work with either a regional buyer, or in some cases a plant buyer, or site-specific individual buyers. Additionally, you’re going to have your local resources with your Account Managers and specialists that are going to be on-site, and they’re going to drive the day-to-day operations.

This allows us to help work as a partner to build cohesion and to take a consultative sales approach to share best practices.

What Role Does Safety Play in Our Partnership?

At Mazzella, safety is at the heart of everything that we do, and that includes the vendors we partner with.

We’re going to help drive safety through your organization by making sure your lifting, rigging, and material handling program is compliant with OSHA and all relevant standards.

We’re also going to make sure that your lifting and rigging gear has properly been inspected and meets OSHA and ASME standards. We have an in-house training team that can help your organization with training needs, ranging from certification training to competency training.

Ultimately, not every customer’s a good fit for us. We need to make sure that our clients are safety conscious and truly value the consultative approach that Mazzella has.

Do All of Your Locations Need to be Compliant With our National Agreement?

We prefer full compliance with the national agreement. However, it’s not a requirement. We also understand that getting all of your branches compliant won’t happen overnight.

A company can exist in a partial agreement permanently, too. Mazzella’s goal would be to roll it out to the entire enterprise, but in some cases, it doesn’t make sense.

In cases where the footprint doesn’t fit, you could agree to a regional service agreement.

Who Will Your Primary Contact be at the Local and National Level?

Your company will have a designated local Account Manager that will make frequent visits to your sites. Meanwhile, the National Account Manager is going to manage contracts, escalations, quarterly business calls, and will be your main contact at the national level.

Will You Have to Sever Ties With Your Local Representatives?

No. With the National Accounts program, you get the best of both worlds. As a member, you won’t have to cut ties with your local Mazzella representatives.

Not only will you get to keep those local relationships, but national accounts members also get the added benefit of accessing corporate contacts, a tailored network of product offerings, and dedicated resources.

Mazzella’s intent is not to change that relationship, but to layer it and give it the focus that it requires.

Will You Have Access to Your Current Brands?

Yes. Mazzella prides ourselves on being a direct distributor for all major brands and manufacturers (foreign and domestic), so there’s no need to part ways with your favorite tools or products, including:

  • Crosby
  • Columbus McKinnon
  • Van Beest
  • Gunnebo Industries
  • Peerless Industrial Group, Inc.
  • And more!

What Is Mazzella Looking for in a National Account Partner?

If you’re a multi-site location, we have an evaluation process that’s completed by your Account Manager, Regional Sales Manager, and National Account Managers

We will have a conversation about what’s the best fit for your organization, and what’s the best fit for our organization. We’re a good fit for companies that don’t just talk about a safety culture but instill a safety culture and are committed to being lifelong learners—one of our core values.

It’s possible that our values, objectives, and goals don’t align completely. In those cases, we may decide that it’s not a good fit for a national agreement with us. At Mazzella, we’re looking for a strategic partnership, not someone that is just looking for a low-price transactional supplier. We’re also looking for someone that pays in a timely manner for goods and services.

How Big Is Mazzella’s Footprint?

With 30-plus nationwide locations, our national distribution center, and sales associates and specialists around the country, you will receive fast, consistent product delivery— regardless of your location.

Conversely, response times may be longer for our crane service and rigging inspections depending on whether we have a shop in your region. If our response times don’t work for you, we can work with you on a regional agreement rather than a national one.

What if You Have an Existing Supply Chain Partner?

If you are already in an agreement with another supplier, we’re going to want to look at the terms of your contract to make sure we understand what products you’re going to need to take ownership of when that contract’s terminated.

We want to understand the length of the contract, and when you’re going to be able to terminate it. That way we can ensure a smooth transition from the incumbent supplier to us.
