Mazzella History with Jim Mazzella

It wasn’t the cleanest and certainly not the easiest job around – but it was fundamental to the industry. This gut-level standard of performance defined the company in 1954, and it defines the company to this day. From the shop floor to the front office, every employee knows and understands the no-excuses, customer-first mentality that is threaded throughout the company. In every customer interaction, we instill confidence and comfort.

The company has grown organically through the decades by expanding its product offerings and by entering new markets. It has done so by securing new customers and nurturing those historic relationships. And it has grown by acquisition.

The Mazzella Way — Instilling Confidence and Comfort In Every Interaction.

Mazzella Companies ISO Certificate 2025

Mazzella Companies’ purpose is to instill confidence and comfort in every interaction by being the best at everything we do. Being the best involves the development, commitment and engagement of everyone on the Mazzella team. We are committed to our Management System to continually improve the processes that drive the safety of all stakeholders and ensure the products and services we provide always meet the customer’s requirements.

Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) Policy

Mazzella Companies’ belief is all injuries are preventable and injury prevention shall be considered of primary importance in all phases of operation and administration. Management’s intention and responsibility is to provide safe and healthy working conditions. We are committed to documenting, training and auditing safe work practice requirements for all employees in order to control all workplace hazards and avoid injuries.

Mazzella Safety & Quality

The prevention of incidents is an objective affecting all levels of our company and its operations. It is, therefore, a basic requirement that each supervisor make the safety of all employees an integral part of his/her regular management function. It is equally the duty of each employee to accept and follow established safety rules.

If an employee is ever in doubt about how to do a job or task safely, it is his/her duty to ask a qualified person for assistance before performing the work. Supervisors are responsible for conducting retraining to ensure that the employee is clear on how to perform the job safely.

All reported incidents will be investigated by supervisors using root cause analysis. The objective of the investigation is to identify and complete corrective actions. Employees are expected to assist management in each investigation. All work related injuries, incidents and unsafe conditions must be reported immediately by employees to supervisors. No exceptions are acceptable. Everyone is responsible for the housekeeping responsibilities that pertain to their jobs.

Management will review EH&S programs and set objectives and targets accordingly. These will be reflected according to the Master Matrix of Document / Train / Audit within the Mazzella EH&S Annual Action Plans.

Regarding all Mazzella environmental scopes and responsibilities, top management is committed to complying with applicable legal and other requirements, preventing air, water and waste pollution, and continually improving environmental performance.

Mazzella Companies’ commitment to this policy is reflected in the corporate-wide requirements for each and every employee of Mazzella, as well as those visitors of Mazzella Companies (i.e. customers, suppliers, sub-contractors), to be trained on its requirements.

Mazzella Core Values

At Mazzella, our core values — Be Safe, Inspire Lifelong Learning, Be Humble, Be Hungry, and Be Smart — guide everything we do. They influence how we work, make decisions, and support one another across every level of the company.

Mazzella Be Safe

At Mazzella Companies, we put safety first with thorough training, regular inspections, and strict standards. We invest in the right tools and programs to protect our team and customers. Safety is part of who we are and something we all take responsibility for.

Mazzella Inspire Lifelong Learning

We are committed to continuous improvement. Subscribe to the belief that you are either growing or dying. Be willing to fail. “If you haven’t lost, you haven’t played.” Routinely share your knowledge and expertise to enhance our customers’ experience, always promoting safe and proper use of our products and services. We learn by doing and we perfect by teaching.

Mazzella Be Humble

Ideal team players are humble. They lack excessive ego or concerns about status. Humble people are quick to point out the contributions of others and slow to seek attention for their own. They share credit, emphasize team over self, and define success collectively rather than individually.

Mazzella Be Hungry

Ideal team players are hungry. They are always looking for more. More things to do. More to learn. More responsibility to take on. Hungry people almost never have to be pushed by a manager to work harder because they are self-motivated and diligent. They are constantly thinking about the next step and the next opportunity.

Mazzella Be Smart

Ideal team players are smart. They have common sense about people. Smart people tend to know what is happening in a group situation and how to deal with others in the most effective way. They have good judgment and intuition around subtleties of group dynamics and the impact of their words and actions.

With the average tenure of a Mazzella team member being over six years, it’s easy to see that working for Mazzella Companies is a challenging and rewarding experience. We regularly organize events and outings to show appreciation for Mazzella team members. We strive to maintain a workplace where team members feel comfortable, safe, and appreciated, which is why many of them have been with the company for over a decade.
