A United States naval vessel was impacted by inclement weather in the North Atlantic, damaging the interior of the ship and the equipment inside. The equipment that needed to be removed from the vessel had never been lifted by the Navy before. The ship could not undergo maintenance until the damaged equipment was removed.

Bari Roistacher, Lifting Specialist, utilized her knowledge of and relationships with the three different commands on the naval base to evaluate all of the equipment that was already located on base. She was able to determine what could be used in a safe and compliant manner to get the equipment off of the damaged ship so it could return for repair.
