Supporting North Dakota’s Booming Oil & Gas Industry

Lifting and Rigging for Oil and Gas Industry

North Dakota’s oil and gas sector is vital to the state’s economy—employing over 14,000 people and accounting for 30% of the state’s overall gross business volume.

And it’s no coincidence we chose Williston as our location, as the town’s population has nearly doubled in the last 20 years because of the state’s 21st Century oil boom.

We understand the unique challenges that oil and gas can bring to lifting and rigging professionals, and the hundreds of thousands (sometimes millions) of dollars that can be lost due to extensive downtimes. We also know how hard it is to keep your rigging gear in compliance with oil and gas standards.

With more than 70 years of experience serving the most important sectors in the American economy, we understand the level of quality, service, and dependability required in this vital industry.

We also have the resources to support North Dakota’s thriving mining and mobile crane markets.

Lifting and Rigging Training

Mazzella + ITI Training

Mazzella’s in-house training is all about the basics of lifting and rigging, getting your workers compliant. Our training focuses on four key departments:

  • Lifting and rigging
  • Fall protection
  • Overhead crane operating
  • Signalperson

Furthermore, our partner Industrial Training International (ITI), has lifting courses geared to those looking for intermediate and advanced rigor.

Thanks to this partnership, the handoff between someone going from Mazzella training to ITI training is a seamless experience. Mazzella Account Managers are also kept in the loop about students’ progress.

On top of training, Mazzella and ITI have partnered to build two state-of-the-art training centers: one in Mazzella’s Carter Road facility in Cleveland, Ohio, and a crane, rigging, and load handling training center in Bartow, Florida.

Replacement Drill Line, Tubing Line, and Sand Line Cables for Drilling and Workover Rigs

Mazzella Provides Replacement Sand Line Cables

We offer routine and emergency field service for drilling and workover rigs. When your rig goes down and you need to swap out and replace a drill line, tubing line, or a sand line, we send out one of our mobile spooling units operated by an expert technician with the correct pre-measured cable.

We also perform in-field splicing and will use our rig to pull the old or damaged line off and run the replacement cable off the truck and onto the rig’s winch drum.

At our shop, we pull test cables to the proper ASME standards and make any necessary repairs.

Mazzella Provides Inspections for Slings, Below-The-Hook, And Fall Protection Products

OSHA 1910.184 and ASME B30.9 require that all lifting slings, fastenings, and attachments shall be inspected for damage or defects by a competent person designated by the employer.

Mazzella employs certified inspectors that can provide documented rigging inspections that meet or exceed government requirements (OSHA and ASME). Rack Inspections

The warehouse and storage industry has recently shifted towards third-party rack inspections. While your in-house safety department has your best interest at heart, it’s always good to get an unbiased set of eyes on your pallet racking systems.

From mom-and-pop operations to some of the largest distribution centers in the country, our team can accurately, quickly, and efficiently inspect any type of warehouse. Our inspectors will be on the lookout for:

  • Any in-house modifications
  • Damaged uprights and beams
  • Missing safety clips on beams
