Magnetic Particle Testing
In-house or Field Inspections
These devices will be inspected to ASME B30.20 and tested by a Level 2 Inspector (dry method) using the Parker Probe. Devices will be inspected prior to testing for signs of wear or fatigue. Magnetic particle testing will be utilized in an attempt to prove or disprove indications of inclusions, such as cracks. Documentation satisfactory to the requirements of OSHA and ASME will be available via e-mail—generally within two days after the field inspection is complete.
Note: Only clean, ferrous materials can be tested. Not all configurations allow for reasonable results. Special tagging required to show proof of inspection must be determined by the customer contact and will affect the quoted price. Tagging requirements may affect the scheduled start date of the inspection.
This service is available for large or small crane hooks, hoist hooks, sheaves, blocks and below-the-hook lifting devices. Contact your local Lifting Specialist to see if this service is available for your product.
For both in-house and field inspections—magnetic particle services are available at an additional cost to inspections and/or repairs.
