Mazzella Companies hosted two certified inspector courses for employees and customers at their facility in Cleveland, OH. A total of 70 attendees went through both classes, including 45 Mazzella employees.
This course taught the attendees how to inspect wire rope, wire rope slings, synthetic web slings, alloy chain slings and rigging hardware. The certified inspector course is also designed for employees who perform proof testing and for those in supervisory roles who oversee these activities within their organization.
Participants were taught the removal criteria based on the applicable OSHA, ASME, ASTM and ANSI regulations, standards and guidelines. Participants were given written exams to determine their knowledge of the material with 85% proficiency. Participants were then required to perform hands-on inspections of used and damaged gear, correctly identifying any removal from service criteria, per the appropriate standards.
